As from Friday 15th November the decision has been made to close the 1st Hole and 18th Hole due to very wet conditions and landing areas on both holes are saturated. A review will be taken on a weekly basis but it is understood that the holes will be closed for two to three weeks. All golfers will be asked to start on the 7th Hole members and visitors.
All Winter League and Senior competitions will be 12 Holes for the foreseeable future and the holes to be played are as follows:-
Currently owing to the 14th and 15th out of play we ask all members and visitors to cooperate with decisions made.
A members survey has been organised by the management board to get members input into what you as members think about our golf club, The survey form will be available as a hard copy in the shop and bar with a box for you to drop in your completed forms on the bar counter.
All members who requested and signed for receiving emails will receive an email form from Wales Golf and a link will be seen to enable you to access a survey form for you to complete on line.
All completed forms will be reviewed by Wales Golf area manager for MVGC (Theo Baker) who will collate all the results and present the findings to the management board who in turn will present to the members. Please take the opportunity to complete these forms as this is our golf club and members views are important.
Since the introduction of the suggestion box for members we are delighted that some very good suggestions have been discussed at both the management and committee meetings. The process is as follows :-
All suggestions are discussed and involvement of ground staff, golf managers and club staff is sought if applicable and a response or decision is made.
Financial implications has to be considered on all suggestions.
It is intended to engage our members with the suggestions we have received and recommendation made on each topic.
All suggestions will soon be available on the website and notice boards within the club.
Please keep suggestions coming in if you think it will assist MVGC.
It has been noticed that some fly tipping is happening on our golf course. Entry road to green keepers sheds and roadway alongside the 5th green are examples. As members please be vigilant and any suspicious activity please report to the shop with any registration numbers you think may be involved.
We work extremely hard as a team to ensure we present a top golf course for our members and visitors and sadly we on occasions are a target for certain members of the public to dispose of their rubbish.
Please assist the MVGC team with your observations and remember this is our golf club and one to be proud of.
Over the last few weeks MVGC have been having problems with the issue of
children on the golf course
Children have been entering the golf course mainly from Coed Gwilym Park and walking or running on the fairways, the greens, and through the bunkers. Although this is frustrating MVGC management would like to remind members and visitors that we have a rule about not confronting any child or children and not under any circumstances hit any shots in their direction. Police and local police community officers are fully aware of our problem and are monitoring and patrolling the CGP area. Please contact the shop who in turn will contact the police.
Mond Valley Golf Club are delighted to announce that both Phil Taylor and Kevin Davies have officially become Child Welfare Officers representatives for MVGC. Congratulations to both Phil and Kev who attended a Golf Wales workshop in Llanishen Golf Club recently and have attained the credited certificate of their achievement.
Both Phil and Kev are active members of the Junior Section and are part of the very well run Junior Management Committee.
A full policy will soon be available to view on the MVGC website for clarity.
Apologies for the very little news that can to placed on our website but owing primarily to such bad weather over several weeks very little news could be reported. The course had to be closed for nearly a week due to the saturation on the fairways , greens, and walkways. It is always our policy to try to keep the golf course open but we had little option but to close it to both members and visitors.
Neal Merry one of Mond Valley Golf members represented Wales in the bi annual Wales v England Disability International held at Wychwood Park Golf Club near Crewe.

Neal since his first cap in 2019 has maintained a 100% winning run in both singles and doubles. Congratulations to Neal and the Welsh team for winning and retaining the Disabled Trophy.
