Members Update - Local Lockdowns

Dear Members, Please see the Statement below as issued by Wales Golf regarding the latest Covid-19 restrictions. Wales Golf COVID-19 The following Local Lockdown restrictions have been announced by the Welsh Government: Caerphilly Rhondda Cynon Taf Merthyr Tydfil Bridgend Blaenau Gwent Newport The following areas have also been added to the Welsh Government Local Lockdown restrictions: Llanelli (6pm, Saturday 26th September) Cardiff (6pm, Sunday 27th September) Swansea (6pm, Sunday 27th September) The local lockdown measures state that: People will not be allowed to enter or leave these areas without a reasonable excuse, such as travel for work or education; People will only be able to meet people they don’t live with outdoors for the time being. They will not be able to form, or be in, extended households; All licensed premises will have to close at 10pm. Everyone over 11 years old will be required to wear face coverings in indoor public areas – as is the case across Wales. Wales Golf would like to remind "clubs and golfers that people cannot travel into or out of a restricted area for sport, as this is not a ‘reasonable excuse’ to enter or leave the area". Travel within a local lockdown area to a golf club is permissible providing you are a resident of that area. It has been very gratifying to see a number of clubs making reciprocal arrangements with other clubs to allow their members living outside or in local lockdown areas to have access to golf. We would strongly encourage clubs to consider making similar arrangements. Across Wales, face coverings are now mandatory whilst indoors. We are aware that there will be further implications for clubhouses, bar and restaurant and professional shop facilities so please follow all Welsh Government Guidelines when risk assessing these situations. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Implications to all members of Mond Valley Golf Club Please note the following paragraph, which is effective as from Sunday 27th September at 6.00pm for all Members. “Wales Golf would like to remind clubs and golfers that people cannot travel into or out of a restricted area for sport, as this is not a ‘reasonable excuse’ to enter or leave the area. Travel within a local lockdown area to a golf club is permissible providing you are a resident of that area.” We are at this moment making contact with Pontardawe Golf Club in an attempt to make reciprocal arrangements with regards to our members who live in the Neath and Port Talbot Area. If all goes well we will email you Monday with information on how to book tee times which will only be Monday to Friday. Please also note :- “Across Wales, face coverings are now mandatory whilst indoors”. As has been said before, these are unusual times. We ask that all members follow the Legal Laws & Guidelines as set out by The Welsh Government who have stated that “The new local restrictions measures will be kept under regular review. They will be enforced by local authorities and by the police.” Please Stay Safe Mond Team
