Members Update

Once again may we firstly hope that you, and your families, are well and adjusting to the life as directed by our Government. To say these are troubled times is the greatest of understatements and we all appreciate the massive impact on our personal, working and business lives. As you are aware the Club is currently in ‘lock-down’ however I can assure you that everything that can be done, is being done. The financial impact, albeit currently a partial unknown, is being worked on by John Williams who is calculating the potential position that we will find ourselves in when life as we knew it returns. To enable Mond Valley Golf Club to continue to operate and ‘pay its way’ requires income. Similarly, I am sure that we would all wish to recommence golf as soon as we can, as and when the course re-opens. To enable this to be achieved work on the course must continue. Which is being carried out by Leighton and his staff. Many of you may have read a recent article published by ‘Golf Monthly’. I would like to extract certain sections which I feel are very relevant to the membership of Mond Valley Golf Club:  Can golf clubs survive? They can, but everybody who can has to do their bit  That means, if at all financially possible, paying your annual subscription, even though you’re not getting use of the club and facilities for this period  If clubs were to reimburse subs or receive significantly less than expected this year, they could go to the wall  For some, who have been placed in a precarious financial position, golf may have to take a backseat  Clubs want to retain members and members want to preserve their clubs – we have to work together  For those who truly love the game, and are loyal to their club, and can afford to take a small financial hit, it’s vital that they do so. As you are aware the current ‘lockdown’ coincides with our annual membership subscriptions. Firstly, I would like to thank the many of you who have already paid your fees in full or renewed for the 2020/21 season. To those of you who yet to renew may I direct your thoughts back to the points raised in the above article. In respect of the fees there are a number of ways in which they can be paid. For more information you can call Richard, on 01792-842929 ext 2 from 10am – 12pm today and then every other day i.e. next Fri, Sun, Tues etc As you may appreciate our focus is firmly on steering our club safely through the next few months. Discussions have taken place regarding the potential to acknowledge members for their continued support at this critical time. We will get through this and come out the other side so long as we stick together and uphold the values and traditions of our great club. Please Stay Safe, Regards Mond Team
