Mr Ian Sprake is now the official Captain of Mond Valley Golf Club 2019. Ian took office on Friday 25th Jan in a presentation evening which was very well supported in the clubhouse.

Ian has chosen Mr Paul McCay as his Vice - Captain for his year in office.

Ian has chosen Kids Cancer Charity as his Captains Charity for 2019. It is an established charity who supports children with cancer and their families. Please visit their website Kids Cancer Charity. Please support as much as you can as throughout the year. Ian is planning some good solid support at MVGC with days based around his charity.

An excellent night was held at the clubhouse on Friday 8th Feb with over 60 members in attendance. Mr Eirwyn Jones supported by Jim Richards gave an excellent presentation on the very difficult changes to the golf rules and the audience were very good with involvement and some very good questions were asked and discussed.

We are planning a second presentations for other members and this date will be announced very soon in March.

Eirwyn is a fully qualified referee and is asked to officiate at many golf tournaments throughout Wales and is able to officiate anywhere in the UK.

Jim has recently passed the second stage of qualification exam with merit and is well on his way to becoming a qualified official.

Apologies but the 2019 diary is in the printers and a draft version is imminent to place on website.

I have had difficulties getting other golf clubs to give away dates for team matches and a few other issues due to GDPR rules .

We would like to thank Mr Stephen Williams supported by Alison our outgoing Captain for his valued contribution and support during his year in office. His tireless efforts in controlling maintenance and working about the club has been greatly appreciated. In his closing speech of the Captain's Report it was announced that over £3600 was raised for Stephens Captains charity Alzeimer's Society Cymru.

A special presentation was made by Mr Neil O'Sullivan to MVGC. Neil was selected to represent Great Britain (Young PGA) v USA in Venezuela. Neil presented his selection letter and Team shirt to Mike Jones President.

Neil also presented his Glamorgan County Jumper when he was selected to play for Glamorgan County in a series of matches versus other counties in the UK.

Our golf course is being inspected by Wales Golf sometime during 2019. This is done about every 10 years and involves full measuring of Red, Yellow , and White Tees to Green. They also make recommendations on improvements and items that may need to be looked at about the course.

A team is being set up involving Greens Committee, Ground staff and certain members to walk the course over the next few months to prepare a report for the committee to discuss.

We are aiming over the next few years to ensure Mond Valley is a " talked about" course and suitable for all categories of players and a course to be proud of.

It has been passed by the committee that new disabled bays will be created and repainted alongside the assembly area opposite the Captains Car park space. Only disabled badge holders will be able to park in these bays. Under no circumstances are members to park in the marked assembly area and immediately in front of the gate by the driving practise nets as this is due to Health and Safety regulations
